Korea – Extension of anti-dumping investigation on Vietnam’s cast copper pipe products

General information:

1. Type of case: Anti-dumping

2. Initiated Country: South Korea

3. Respondent(s): Vietnam and China

4. Subject Product: Cast copper pipe products originating from Vietnam and China

5. HS Code: 7411.10.0000

Updated procedure:

On October 29, 2021, the Korean Trade Commission (“KTC”) officially initiated an investigation on Subject Product.

On April 22, 2022, the KTC issued preliminary investigation conclusion. Accordingly, the KTC determined that the dumping margin of Vietnamese enterprises is from 10 to 14.78%; dumping margin of Chinese enterprises is from 15.95 to 42.03%.

However, due to unclear evidence that the imported products cause significant damage to the manufacturing industry in Korea, the KTC also opines that the temporary anti-dumping measure should not be applied.

Accordingly, in order to review the additional information of manufacturers, the KTC has decided to extend the investigation period for another 2 months, until August 27, 2022.

ATIM LAW FIRM recommends that enterprises continue to closely monitor information; collect and learn information from partners in Korea; actively coordinate with the Korean Investigation Agency as well as regularly discuss with the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam during the case.
