A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Taxation said that a technology motorbike driver with an annual income over VND 100 million must pay 4.5% of tax of which 3% is VAT and 1.5% is a personal income tax.

According to the regulations, the VAT and personal income tax are calculated based on the revenue multiplied by the tax rate so technology motorbike drivers are not allowed to deduct the cost of gasoline, motorbike maintenance, motorbike repair ... Some GrabBike and Go-Bike drivers said that these expenses may take 1/3 of the total annual income of each driver. Therefore, if their total income reaches VND 100 million, the actual revenue is only VND 70 million.

Moreover, because they are business individuals rather than salaried employees, technology motorbike drivers are not allowed to deduct family circumstances.
